Marjorie Taylor

Marjorie Taylor is a self-taught artist whose work includes fabric brain art (neuroscience imagery in hooked rugs, beadwork and quilting), wearable art, and fabric sculptures. Her work has been exhibited in England, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA and featured in numerous publications (e.g., Science) and online sites (e.g., Slate). Her dresses made of recycled materials have been finalists in the World of Wearable Art International Design Competition (New Zealand) and worn at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Sweden. Her most recent work is “vegan taxidermy” — animal replicas that are a mix of realism and fantasy. These one-of-a-kind pieces are made from vintage needlepoint, faux fur, chenille, beads, ribbons and hard foam. There are no animal parts of any kind in the construction.
Marjorie’s current work is available for purchase at Orcas Artworks, an artist-run cooperative on Orcas Island located in the San Juan Islands, Washington.
